We chose this news because it is terrible to the world. All the poor people in Rio de Janeiro are suffering since they feel that they are being shut out of the city. They also feel that this wall is being built out of shame since the beaches are right in front and the government doesn't want tourists to see these people. This affects us because it is showing that you really can shut someone out. Also it is a marvelous example of segregation. We used to think that segregation was only from 1950 but it is everywhere. It also is done to everyone. Black, white, Jewish, Catholic, rich, poor, anything. You can be segregated from every place in existence, and it will affect us all the same.
In Rio de Janeiro people are building big cement walls around the shantytowns. The people who live there are saying that this is to shut them out, while others say it is to protect the rainforests around them. Many people feel imprisoned in the walls since they can't roam aroundthe way they used. But because they have almost no freedom of speech they can't say anything. The wall around Santa Marta was started in March with and it plans to spend $17 million on more walls around more shantytowns. Its estimated that about 20% of the 6 million people in Rio live in those towns and don't want these walls around them.
Every day in Indonesia there are millions of forests being burned and cut down. It looks like a scene from an apocalyptic movie. Sadly, though, this is the reality of Sumatra. The largest island in Indonesia is being polluted and all the people who live there can no longer do so. Even though burning to clear land is illegal in Indonesia, its done all the time. The worst part is the villagers. The people are losing their homes. They have no place to stay while their house burns to ashes in front of them.

Forest burning is a major world problem. It affects everyone. Burning to clear land is illegal in Indonesia, but it is still done all over Sumatra. This affects Indonesia because every hour a piece of land equivalent to 50 football fields is burned or clear-cut. Now that there is only 15% of the forests left in Sumatra everyone is affected. People of the region is very affected, they cannot bath in the rivers neither drink or use the water, because its full of ashes. We think this is a major problem because it affects many people .
We decided to choose this news because it has an affect in our daily life's, and how we take care of our selves. We think that the deaths of the officers affect the crime rates in Seattle since only one person killed for cops. What we found unjust was that the suspect who was murdered did not even have a chance to defend him self in front of the jury. The officers family's have lost a mother and 3 fathers because of whoever murdered them. We came up with the idea that the family's who lost either their mother or father might want to know who and why they where killed. We think that every family with a cop involved should be aware of the danger his family member is risking.

The suspects from the deaths of four cops had a gun that belonged to one of the cops that was killed on Tuesday. A Seattle officer who was on duty that morning shot and killed Maurice Clemmons in South Seattle, after he challenged him. Several people who tried to help Clemmons escape the police were arrested. The incident ended up being a 2 day manhunt for Clemmons that began on Sunday after he shot the officers. These were identified as Sgt. Mark Renninger, 39; Officer Ronald Owens, 37; Officer Tina Griswold, 40; and Officer Greg Richards, 42. All were parents. Witnesses about Clemmons' murder say that he was shot in the torso on Sunday morning with blood and gauze bandages in a truck linked to Clemmons.
