Many restaurants and coffee shops is giving free treats in specific time of the day. for example Starbucks is offering a free pastry with the purchase of iced tea or coffee until 10 a.m. For other shops this is a tradition like for Ben and Jerry's it is a free cone day.
Companies want to do this so that people come to their shops to buy something and get another treat for free. By doing this they want people to like their food.
